Hot dog!!  Great news for all of you, your dad will get the care he needs and hopefully be much further along in his recovery at the end of that time.

Great news!  Dad qualifies for 20 days professional rehab at our local nursing home, 100% covered by insurance & Medicaire!  :dancingbanana:   My sister who has MS is a retired RN, plus her daughter works at this nursing home in charge of admitting.  They have a room available, and he'll likely be transferred there tomorrow.  A big load off my shoulders as Mom was worried they would send him home, and her knees/legs are hurting from caring for him before even with the help she/we had.

With 2 of my sisters having chemo from cancer, another with MS, and my oldest sister having health issues, we were terribly short on help with Dad at home.  If rehab gets him to a point he can mostly take care of himself, he/we will be fine.  He's eating a little, and food is beginning to taste better to him.

Great news Daniel, They will push him to improve while he's there and that will help. It will take a BIG load off you and Teresa also!

That's great news, Daniel. I'm sure it takes a load off you right now. Just don't forget Mom will be home alone, she'll need some checking on too.

Yes, I told my sister Connie, who set this all up, that she sure took a huge weight off my shoulders!

I called Dad when Teresa left to take Mom up there.  I wanted Dad to know before they got up there in case it upset him.  Turns out he already knew & called Mom & said "somebody torpedo'd me", so he was upset a bit.  I explained to him how there were only 2 rooms left & both had been inquired about, so we had to jump on them.  He had wanted to come home for a couple days, then go to rehab.  Trouble with that is once home, he'd not want to go in at all.  But after the explanation, he was good with it, and totally understood.  I also told him that almost surely they would let me take him out for a few hours to come home for a bit.

Oh, and Dad also told me not to mention at all to my sister Connie that he got upset in the least about the immediate rehab.  So he's definitely good with it & thinking right.  Also, Dad's voice sounded the strongest it's been since the surgery on the 5th, possibly before that even.

So glad to hear this! I'm sure it will make things a bit easier for you and Teresa, and give your Mom a bit of a break. I look forward to seeing him again, I still have tons to learn from his generation!

Hey Daniel, If you can take him out for a few hours why don't you take him to Chinese?  I think he would really enjoy that.  Glad to hear he is sounding stronger and he is good with all the prep for rehab.

When he's ready, you betchya!

Teresa said Dad looks SO much better today! While she was there, Dad ate 2 cups of ice cream AND 1/2 an apple pie. He wanted to save the other half for a late evening snack. Sounds like he's turned the corner to get well street!
