Been a tough day.  Teresa came to the milk parlor after she took Dad's meds to him & seen how fatigued he was.  Then she said Dad himself mentioned he needed to go to the hospital, so I KNEW it was past time.  So I called Josh to get him to finish milking.  Found out Josh, his wife Terri, and my grandson Case were ALL sick, but Josh was able to finish the milking.  Terri was too sick to go to work, and Case stayed there being he was still asleep.  Anyway, Dad was still able to use his walker to get to the car.  Got him there around 8:30.  His BP at the lowest point was just 75/24!  How he hadn't passed out I don't know.  They found the bacteria in his urinary tract, and easy to see he was dehydrated.  After a few bags of fluids in his IV, & a couple small IV bags of meds, his BP started to slowly rise.  Took 6 1/2 hours from the time they ordered him a room in CCU, then one finally came open.  He was feeling better with a BP of 109/54 when I came home.  He wanted us all to come home to get rest, so rather than cause him to feel like he was putting us out, I came on home.  I'll go back after milking in the morning.  Going to call his nurse before I go to bed to get another update.

Oh, and Josh called just before I left about which cow had the bull calf yesterday.  I said #210.  He said he thought that was the cow, but she wasn't in the field anywhere.  I said Oh crap, I hope she didn't get over to the DEEP (14+ feet deep) gully where the fence needs repair.  He went back & checked, and there she was at the bottom.  She landed on her neck & dead as a hammer.  One of our very best cows too.  She was an $1800 cow that would have given over 100lbs of milk a day at her peak of lactation.  I am NOT mentioning this to Dad!  My oldest sister is staying with Mom tonight.  All bases covered for now.  Now time for me to chill a bit.

The cow is a financial blow......otherwise peanuts in the grand scheme of things.  I'd gladly swap my my entire herd being dead on the ground for my Dad's health.

Good thing you took him to the hospital.  I sure hope he will realize now he needs to drink and eat when he comes home.  You had a rough day Daniel, time to just take a few minutes to relax and just chill.  Don't need you going down hill either.

Sorry to hear about the cow, you didn't need that loss right now.
