On Sunday, the kids and I were in the upstairs of the old garage. Suddenly this guy was giving us "Air Support"

image.jpg . image.jpg
It's an Eastern Screech Owl. I would say he was about a foot tall. Never seen one up close, beautiful and cute all at the same time. Kinda hope we didnt chase him off.

Here is an online better pic of one.image.jpg

We've had them here some years but not lately. You usually hear them hunting at night. There was a pair of them and they were hunting on the stream that runs behind our house. We never saw them except once just before dark they were hunting in the field next to our property and one of them was in a tree. The screech is quite a strange and eerie sound!

I'd love to have an owl around my property.  Really neat animals.  Little girl is obsessed with them.  Her entire room is covered in owls.

Two words: sausage gravy.

I'm hoping he will lower the mouse and hopefully some of the pest bird population.
