Josh, I suggested the same thing, but Daniel said it's easier to just use a bigger battery.

Yes, as many things that have to be figured out, having to engineer more than absolutely needed isn't something I want to do.  A bigger battery is by far easier, and the battery box is built for a full size one anyway.

I got the exhaust almost finished, and started on the air filter mounting.  After our family dinner I'll come back & get some more done.  Pics will follow.

I hear that! This is a pretty ambitious project to start with. Plus, a bigger battery follows the "KISS" engineering principle.

Well, after a big lunch/dinner, I just can't get back in the swing of things, but I did get some pics.  Nothing is really bolted into place.  A pair of vice-grips are holding the air cleaner bracket to the hood/dash tower stay arm.  Once drilled & bolted in, this bracket will have a brace from underneath down to the chassis rail.  The muffler took most of the morning as I had lots of cutting & welding to get things aligned to work right.   I had the left side of the front axle jacked up till it hit the end of it's travel & the muffler will bolt with the outlet just above top of travel range.  Several holes to drill yet, but maybe tomorrow.

Here shows where I added temp & oil pressure gauges.

Whoops, went back down to double check something.  The muffler can't be oriented like in the pics.  What I went to check was full lock left turn with left wheel/axle beam lifted to frame.  Too much interference.  Likely build a cross pipe & orient the muffler to upright position, then put a slash cut turnout on the top.  Oh well, no holes drilled yet, so no harm done.  Just have to pick up a short piece of 1 1/2" ID exhaust pipe.

That's looking nice Dan.

So you didn't put the turkey in your pockets, did you?

A whole afternoon of GT time lost to a turkey.

Oh well, you don't FTD to often, so I guess it was well deserved. :smilewink:

Keep up the great work.

NO turkey in my pockets Will.  I feel like a stuffed turkey myself!

Tomorrow between milkings & chores needs to be a time of cleaning/straightening the shop.  I have wrecked the place!  Been going back between the HD and the V4-8 doing things, but not picking up after myself.  So IF there is not a piece of pipe around like I need, then maybe things will get cleaned up.....maybe.  It's so easy to see just one more thing on one of the tractors I can get to fixing.

I love the looks of the Diesel in there! You BH guys are really making me want to get some red :D

I was over at Pete's (Titus) today getting those GT's that Brian gave me. And I was trying to convince Pete to sell me the other JBII LOL.

But these BH's are really starting to grow on me. I'm sure I'll get one at some point  :poke: (<<<< for Pete) :D  :rolling:

Once again great job so far Daniel!! You always make things look like they where meant to be!

I try to make things appear as original as I can, but the muffler cross pipe I will have to build may not look so good.  I would like to have a smooth mandrel bend, but with the flex joint the length it is, there isn't room for it, all due to the muffler configuration.  I may end up using another muffler, but this one has a good sound, plus I have it already.  The total $'s I will have in this tractor is starting to get high.  With new rear tires I'll be pushing a grand.  Tires are not in the near future unless I sell something.

Looks like it's coming together and it works.

Is it possible to get rid of the 90deg bend and have the muffler mount without it?

It would be higher but can't tell if there's enough room to do.

I'd like to keep the flex joint to keep the vibes from working on the muffler mounts, and there's not room to turn the exhaust towards the front due to the alternator.  I'm gonna give it a good hard look before I decide what to do.  No time frame pushing me, and I don't need to hurry myself.

looks great Daniel.

Wished I could get motivated, 3 days off and getting nothing done. Seems lately by 4 pm, I'm outta gas. Maybe my body knows of the upcoming heavy duty remodeling that will occur starting this week. haha

I do good when I can keep things off my mind. But when I let stresses get to me, work on projects stop.  That kind of happened to me today.  I started out good this morning, then when Mom gave a bad report on Dad I lost my drive.  Gotta go out tomorrow & try to pep him up somehow.

This is so true! I have a shop to clean, and both mine and Eggman's JD140's to work on, plus his car. But with the wife sick, and my weird work schedule, I can't seem to get going at all. I read this thread for inspiration, I know how busy a farm keeps you, and you still get this kind of project done!

Spent 45 minutes in the shop just now on the HD-12 project.  Installed the sleeve lift, then studied the exhaust issue.  I know exactly how I'll run the muffler, and it's as Brian (TD&H) mentioned.  The muffler will run inside the red outline, with an exhaust out by the left rear axle tube, just like Dad's old MF50 he used to have.  This will clear ALL moving parts & not interfere with anything.
