I had an MS 260 Pro given to me because they dropped a tree on it and it needs a lot of parts to be usable again. Even using cheap Chinese replacement parts I'll be into it around $200 and I'd still need a bar and chain. Not really worth fixing unless maybe I can find a complete one with a bad engine pretty cheap.

Any chance someone has a blown up one or maybe knows where one is at for a decent price?

Watch ebay. I have seen a few on there needing a motor or motor rebuild.

Also check any OPE shops that sell or repair Stihl equipment. They may have one for parts laying around that the owner decided it wasn't worth fixing. Sometimes you can get them for free or pretty cheap if the owner of the shop doesn't want them sitting around talking up space.

Been watching ebay and nothing blown up lately, just running saws between $200 and $450.

I have a few saw shops left to call and hopefully one of them has something to work with.

You might try a wanted ad on your local craigslist,I once found a parts saw on a local radio stations open air market program. In my case the saw was one that someone mixed up and ran straight gas in it. Good luck!

Definatly worth fixing, Stihl saws in running condition at the auctions I go to around here as well as craigs list seem to hover in the $150-250+ for thebigger ones. Good luck with your search for parts.

Howdy neighbor.

I found a Stihl dealer in Central Square, House Trucking, that supposedly has tractor trailers full of used saws and parts for sale. Prices are decent so I may be able to build it with OEM parts fairly cheap.

Do they have anything other than Stihl parts in those trailers?  BTW have you ever been to Burton livestock's equipment auctions in vernon, I may have met you before.

I haven't been there yet so I have no idea what else they have. They are a Stihl dealer and I guess they never threw anything away.

I tried to get to Burton's most of the summer but every time they had an auction I was broke. Go figure.

I actually work right up the road from there.

I usually go to all of them. Interesting that you work up the road from there, my dad works across rt. 5 from there at the feed mill.

We buy molasses from there.

I'm up at the casino in the golf and grounds department.
