Guys,

I have an old friend who is a GT collector and is considering getting into the MF world. He has the following questions concerning Massey Ferguson Executive Series:

When and how long were they made?

What original engines did they have?

Were they the first MF garden tractor?

What do you need to look for to determine whether they are complete and original?

What do they go for complete but restorable? Restored? In your neck of the woods.

How rare are they?

Any help would be much appreciated. He needs to know before next weekend if possible.

(and really this is for a friend not me.)

Thanks,
Reg

Theres a nice one selling @ Greenville, IL next Saturday.  Tell him to go watch it sell and then he will know what the value is. That one is an 8 horsepower model - Kohler powered, and they were made in 1964 and 1965 only.  That is the first Massey garden tractor and if he wants one he better buy that one because there aren't many around.  Best of luck and your friend needs to join GTTalk.

Gtractor, I knew some of you guys would know about this. That's the one he's interested in. He'll be there. I passed along the info to him word for word. I've told him to join awhile back. He should be here. He owns a couple of Springfields, An Oliver, and several Wheel Horses that I know of. Again, Thanks. By the way there was a nice Speedex there too!

If I didn't already have an Executive I'd go just to see if I could bring that one home.  When that auction was still being held in Taylorville it was the place to purchase garden tractors.  I haven't been since they moved to Greenville.

Was it THE Place because of prices or the tractors they offered or both? BTW, you had to go right by me on your way to Taylorville. I'm only 6 miles from I-72 at Winchester turnoff!

THE PLACE because of both - price and selection.  That sale being as large as it is/was - the garden tractors weren't listed in the sale flyers.  I never knew what was going to be offered until I got there.  Let many bargains go because the trailer was already full.  :(

Thank-you for that info Gtractor, the PO of my MF8E always called mine a 1961, but when I joined here in 2011 I learned it was actually a '65. What I didn't know was that they were the first Massey Ferguson GT!

Here is some production #s on the Executive line.

The serial # plate is under the hood, on the back of the

dash, under the wiring.

As with any GT, the thing to look for in missing parts, is the belt

guards, and in this case, the battery cover.

That's nutz. Sheer looney tunes.

Somebody wanted it about 10 times more than I would.
