Hi people. I just picked up 2 ford LGT tractors. One is a 100 and one is a 145. Both run and have mower decks. Problem is plug on ignition switch started to melt put on new plug and started the tractor and wire between switch and amp gauge started to get hot and smoke. Could this mean there is something wrong with switch or gauge. And should there be an inline fuse in that wire. Thanks for any help I can get.

I would look for a short somewhere . there is likely supposed to be a fuse, but without more info I can't say much more. I have a 100 and a 165 here, and I should be able to trace some wires for you. I do know that the solenoid in my 100 shorts to ground when the key is on. The 165 is up on the bench for a repower.

thanks you guys. Will check wiring tomorrow. Hopefully it will be something as simple as a bad wire

Welcome to GTT. You can download manuals for your tractor in our Manuals Section. Give it all a good check over. There can be internal shorts in the various components too. Good Luck, Rick
