I thought I'd show you guys my latest find. Its a 74 C-160 that was factory equipped with a Tecumseh OH160 16hp. I prefer Kohler, but was still very happy to get this one, as this particular one is quite rare. I got it in Dallas Tx. from its original owner. An 88yr old lady who was selling it for $200 with tiller, dump cart, and lawn deck. She even gave me the original owners manual. The old Tecumseh runs fantastic with no smoke at all, and even its original paint still shines a little. What really shocked me was how nice the original seat is, as most are in ruff shape.  I added an exhaust stack, as I really like the way they look, and sound. I did save the original Nelson muffler, as its in almost new condition. I also replaced the rear 23x8.50-12 turf tires with some 23x10.50 AG tires, and tri-ribs in the front. For now, I don't intend to restore it, as its a very original old horse, and I would like to keep it that way. However, I still have a lot of cleanup to do before I'm happy with it. Here are a few pics from the time I got it, up till current. Thanks

The front end on the Tecumseh equipped C-160's have they're hoods raised up higher to clear the taller over head valve engine. I showed a comparison in one of the pics.

Matt, That is one of the nicest original C160's I've seen and to have a Tec in it is unbelievable. The tiller is worth what you gave for the whole pile, the seat is worth even more then that. Glad you got it and I'm wondering how I missed it.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, I appreciate it!  I really am excited to finally own a C-160, as I've been looking for one for a long time. The funny thing is, when I realized it had a Tec in it, I was disappointed. All that changed after I got home, and got it fired up. I was amazed at how well it ran, and how easy it started. Then I did a little research, and found out it was an unusual model that they didn't make many of.

Brian, you can't have all the GT's in Texas! :bigrofl:  Actually I was contacted by some friends at another place I visit, who knew I had been looking for one, for awhile. It was never on Craigslist or Ebay, which is the only reason I was able to get it. It was over 1000mi. round trip, but it was worth it!

Looks like a great find the one thing the Kohler guy's never say is the tecumseh motors just about always start better but they are both pretty good.

There were several 6 thru 12HP models build in the late 60's and 70's. The C-160's with Teccys are far and few between..

Really outstanding find.  Smart to keep it basically original.

You did very well, great find and at a very nice price.

You Texas boys sure do take really good care of your horses!

Niiiiice Wheel Horse!

When I got my C-160 Auto it came with the same tiller and same trailer as yours. Mine also came with dozer blade, 4-disc harrow, scoop tote and belly grader blade. It did not run but only needed the basics. I won't say what a great deal I got on the package. The fellow wanted it to go to a good home which it did. A blessing. This is my main work tractor .. well it will be, as soon as I can get a little piece of land to work.

This is my C-160 Auto. Has the Kohler. Hydraulic lift. To get it running I had to do a serious cleaning of the points and the carb. I mean I really cleaned that carb. Hydraulic lift valve/control was rusted solid and took some time to free up. She had a lot of rust, corrosion gunk and grime all over her, but she has low hours and is coming back strong. Bad oil leak on the pump at the pulley is the main fix needed right now but it's no big deal I just top off oil. Messy tho.

Riding around the industrial area here, grabbing some scrap wood to help store tractor stuff.
