Yesterday, I drove 90 miles to a plow day near Osceola, IA.

I plowed off & on for 3 hours before noon & headed home about 1 pm.  Stopped at a rest stop near the MO state line, check my straps & all was well -------------- or so I thought!  When I got home, the left side engine panel was missing from the 420!

This morning we backtracked in hopes of finding it along the road.  Had to go past the rest stop (where I was sure the panel was on) about a mile to turn around.  Found it!!!  Laying beside the off ramp to the rest stop, 50 yards past where I would have quit looking, scratched, but no dents!

I'll take it down to bare metal, fill as needed & repaint.  ~~  Lowell

Oops-a-daisy! Glad you found it, though. Easier than buying one off Ebay.

Still might want to pick up a spare 420, though. Just in case.

Dang, that IS good luck!

Glad to see that all it got was some cosmetic damage.

Looks like you might want to run a strap around the tractor for any future trips to keep that from happening.

With my Bolens, I do that when I have them loaded up facing backwards to keep the wind from lifting up the hood and tearing it off.  Plus, with some of them I tie down the seats as some of them are hinged as well.

No more plow days this year, that I know of!

Problem was "handy-dandy 1/4 turn fastener", will be replaced with original-style bolt/clip nut!  ~~  Lowell

A little paint and filler and it'll be as good as new.  All I can say is you must be living right!
