Just curious to see if any of the fellow Mac users have downloaded the free upgrade and to hear your thoughts.  I have upgraded my QC 2.3 i7 Mini at the church, my wife's DC 2.7 i7 Mini running 16 GB of Ram, and my lowly Aluminum Macbook (fall 2008) running the lowly 2.0 Core2Duo, 8 GB of ram and a 64GB Crucial SSD Drive.  All installs went smoothly and differences are subtle.  The machine that surprises me the most is the s-lowly Macbook.  Performance all around has approved.  Definitely worth my time.

BTW... I did one download then tossed the disc image on a usb/flash drive following this basic tutorial.  When I wanted to install it on a machine I drug it from the flash drive to the desktop of the machine I was upgrading.  http://www.redmondpi...drive-tutorial/

Don't know much about it. I'm still running Snow Leopard on my 3 year old mini and have no issues with it.

Mavericks is more a optimized version of OSX that is light weight so it uses less resources.  It also has some other benefits.  I would suggest it if you are considering it.  Still need to upgrades my wife's Macbook Pro

I'm also still using Snow Leopard on my mini. I haven't heard of the Maverick. I stopped at Snow Leopard since I didn't have enough RAM to run the latter ones. Guess it's time to do some research. May consider an upgrade computer next year. I've had this mini forever lol.

Very happy with it so far other than I cannot get the Mini at church to print over the network to the copier.  Had a bit of problems with my wife's Epson Perfection v600 scanner but they updated drivers in less than two weeks.  There was a work around too.

Our Granddaughter just upgraded to Maverick on her Macbook and she likes it.  It took a while to dl all the files but other then that the upgrade went smoothly and she didn't need any help.  If she was having any problems, believe me I would have heard about it.

I am comfortable enough with it that I am ready to backup my wife's Macbook and install Mavericks on it.  I sure do like now much snappier my old Macbook is and it improves battery life on the original (almost dead) battery.  It also makes me want a Macbook Air even more.
