Not looking at one, I have to say the flywheel is towards the rear of the tractor.

 

I think you might be right. Since the clutch / driveshaft comes straight off the motor there isn't much side load on the crank but on the front where the pto clutch is and the way the belt gets routed there is a lot more side load put on the crank which would explain the motor sitting opposite of what i was thinking.

Yes, I am still interested in it. I thought you were keeping it to keep the HD 12 Original?

 

I would probably be dead and gone till I ever get rid of the HD-12 so once that happens I won't give a s___. LOL

Cubs have flywheel to the rear, and crank out the front.  Pulley for the starter/gen is mounted on the rear of the pto clutch.  The starter/gens off a Briggs are the correct rotation, but not sure if the briggs mounts will work with the Wisconsin.

OK, How about changing rotation of the starter. It should be just a matter of reversing the leads??

Nope, the field windings have to be changed out....I asked a pro rebuilder about that.
