Hey I'm trying to revive a 1986 Craftsman lawn tractor. It seems that the carb jets are screwed up..

I'm looking for sources/ vendors to help me.

Here's data:

Craftsman 38" Riding Lawn Tractor, electric start.

1986

Model 917.255741

Briggs & Stratton 12 HP

 Craftsman carb part # 632413

Sears says carb rebuld kit is # 49230

PS, how do I find build date on engine?

TY,

JB

One of our sponsors or your local NAPA dealer should be able to help. Usually the carbs just need to be disassembled, cleanned, and reassembled. If there are problems with specific parts you will probably have to deal with a dealer. Disassemble and clean the carb before ordering parts. I don't remember how the date codes worked.  Good Luck, Rick

You may be able to just remove the mixture adjusting screws and blow spray carb cleanner into the seats. Then replace the screws and adjust according to the manual. Check Manuals section for the engine manual.

JB, 632413 is a Tecumseh number, not Briggs.  Is it a 632347 kit?  49-230 is a Oregon aftermarket part number.

Does it look like this?  https://www.stens.co...CN=4D1B9430DC32

I have them in stock for $14.
