It says coil needs to be replaced, but does he mean Solid State Ignition module?

They fetch about 200 on ebay.

Yea, probably. There are better modern upgraded ignition conversions than buying a used 40 yr old electric module.

Can't go wrong with that price.

Here's hoping there's only a grounded wire and you'll have it running tomorrow night.

Hopefully it's a quick fix for you, but be ready for a continuous "no spark" situation.
You might want to read thru this website.
http://enginesandmagnets.com/
BTW, his last update makes you use the navigation bar at the very top of the page to go to the "next" page.
The site is a long read, but explains very well, the why and how. Also some possible replacement ideas.

Aftermarket solutions are out there, but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

Nice looking tractor, thanks for saving another one.

Congrats on the MF10 that's a great buy regardless of the ignition problem.
