Just bought this today for $400

This seems like one heck of a deal to me, it's a Massey Ferguson 65 (row crop), engine turns over, was running about 2 years ago, was propane but it was converted to gas, needs a head gasket but it came with a new one.

I'm hoping to get this running, put a loader on it and then resell it.

The same guy has this and I really want to buy it, it's $1500 which is pretty cheap for what it is.

If only I had $1500 :oh_shucks: :ah_shoot:  :boo_hoo:

Great old iron there. You might try to sell it to a Massey Collector on the LP alone. They were much less common.

Fwiw, the pistons in that engine are probably domed. They did that to get a little more compression for the LP. Might be why the head gasket blew on Gas? I only mention it so you don't go thru a bunch of work to have it go again. Make sure the head is true and torque by the numbers.

Alan is right, I would consider (if it was my tractor) getting it converted back to propane.  Collectors eat propane tractors, since nobody really makes anything comparable today and a propane model's total run is in the double digits for even common tractor models.

I agree also on the propane. I was watching a tractor show a few months ago about propane tractors. My guess is it would be less expensive to get her back to what it was instead of the loader plan.

Actually LP tractors around here are worthless, no one wants to mess with propane. Gas or diesel is easier.

It is interesting on how they used the propane tank for a gas tank, makes it a lot easier to convert over, instead of replacing the hood and tank. I'm going to go pick it up today, I'll get better pictures.

I have heard of a lot of people converting LP to gas, so hopefully I can keep a head gasket in it.

Thanks
