I got everything back together on the Kohler K341 last weekend and got it fired up. I knew from before that the spark plug hole didn't have the best threads and sure enough when I put it back together this time I didn't like how it tightened up. I should have just redid the spark plug hole with a heli coil from the get go before running it but that is besides the point now LOL.

I used the Bush Hog yesterday to pull the garden trailer and haul firewood from the one corner to our pallets that we have set down to stack it. After I got done with moving most of it I pulled it down to the garage to put air in the tires for the trailer. I have the carb close to proper tune but haven't done the whole thorough tuning yet since it was just put back together I don't want to rev it too high yet.

I had it idling and it started loading up and till I got to it and had a chance to give it a little throttle she backfired and shut off. I just turned the key off and didn't think much of it. Went in to the garage to grab a screwdriver to adjust the mixture screws. Lifted the hood and seen the spark plug hanging from the coil wire. Definitely needs the heli coil done now LOL.

I got the head off yesterday and will be getting the heli coil done this week yet. Would like to be able to use the tractor again next weekend.

Sorry to hear it George, but at least you can fix it.
Keep an eye out for one at the flea markets.

That's too bad. Do you have a timing issue, with that backfire?

Had that happen in a K241 Kohler. This one was at high throttle though. The hood was off and the tractor was inside. It drove the spark plug right into the ceiling.

I don't think the timing is off but I am going to check it to be sure.

I think it backfired because I didn't tune it completely yet and when it was idling for longer than just a brief moment the rpms slowly dropped until it just started to die and I went to hit the throttle to try and catch it and the extra air made it pop.
