I need some help with ID on a wheel horse I picked earlier this year. The tag says Suburban but that is the only remaining tag left on the tractor no numbers on the belt cover. Has a 7 hp Kohler, electric start...(push button)...thanks for any help I was thinking maybe a 701 ?

It appears to be a 701 as the 702 had a open grill to allow air to get under the hood around the engine.

701 breaks down like this,  the 7 stands for 7 hp, 0 stands for which transaxle used, and the 1 stands for 1961, this system was used until the Named Series was introduced in 1968.

I think that was the only year for the double starter / generator pulley and wide starter / generator belt guard too.

The 701 and 1961 was the first and only model & year Wheel Horse used this Ivory plastic dash plate, then you know for positive it is a 701:

I just noticed that it has the wrong hood on it. Can you read the Serial # decal?

Wheel Horse never published serial numbers so started recording any I saw. Have about 5000 now with 126 1961 serials. 52 of those are for the model 701. Few survivors still have the number on them.
