I have a chance to buy this engine cheap but would like to know what model it is.The owner can not get it started if it has no fire i want to make sure it is not a solid state before i go buy it.The electric starter will turn it over but it will not start.I like challenges but not for the price of a magneto

That doesn't look like an SSI model to me. That looks like the old style with points under the flywheel.

Looks smaller than a 10, but mainly based on perspective of the carb & air cleaner. Also, I think the rope cup is the same on the 5-8 hp engines, but it looks just like the one on Dads 6 hp

Always worth $35, Don.  If worse comes to worst, that old starter is worth that alone.

30548 condenser and 30547 points, it will be as good as new.

I also guess HH60 and it looks like it may have came off of a Troybilt rototiller.
