Most likely it'll be done outside with and angle grinder and the wire wheel. I'll wear a mask.

When I had my big tank, I had thought about using electrolysis to take the paint off. Since the tank has been sold, I will probably wire brush as well.

Update

The forgotten project is not forgotten anymore, I have lots of space in the shop now so I started working on this thing again today.

Gathered up all the parts I have for it new + used, and tried to remember where everything goes. ???

Spent some time on the bare frame preparing it for paint, got it about 1/2 ready, hoping to get some paint on it soon so reassembly can begin.

Really want to finish this one since most of the parts needed for it I already have.

Today we had snow in the morning and the forecast rain for the afternoon, I didn't bother with the frame as I want to do the prep work on it outside, keep the mess outside, we didn't get the rain but I know if I had of dragged it out there rain would come.

I did mange to get some of the black parts prepped and painted including the drive motor.

Tomorrow they forecast warmer and dryer, hoping I can get the frame done, painted, ???.

Project is going forward.

Nice to see that you're finding some time to get back at this project.

I put the electric lift on the bench and tested it at 12volts, it works but sounds like it's straining, so I took it apart, cleaned, lubed the bushings and gears, put back together and now it's faster and quieter.

Today I didn't get to spend as much time working on as I wanted to but I was able to finish prepping the frame and paint it.

Looking great Doug, keep at it, only 29 days until plow day.

Set backs.

I got a lot of parts prepared for paint including the trans/axle and the front grill/hood support which I painted black but didn't get to much yellow paint on.

The more I look at the yellow paint I picked the more I don't like it, too bright, too yellow.

This is the inside of the hood, there was an instruction label on it that I removed and under that I believe to be the original factory colour.

e15 002.JPG

I picked up some NEW CAT yellow, was all they had, and painted one part, put it side by side with the original and it's a little dark duller.  I could live with this.

e15 003.JPG

And night and day different that the colour the frame is.

e15 004.JPG

I think OLD CAT yellow is a bit brighter and I goning to try to get some tomorrow.

So I got some rework to do.

2nd thing I found is I put the electric lift together wrong.

It's suppose to look like the 1st pic, not the way I did it in the 2nd pic.

e15 001.JPG e15 002.JPG

That was an easy fix.
