So I went to install a nova II ignition kit on my 72 wizard tonight. Has a 10 HP Briggs 243431. I Installed per the instructions and got no fire. it has a new coil and worked fine with the points, just wanted to upgrade. did some wire switching and still got no fire. reversed terminals and got fire but was backfiring in the carb. PLEASE Help!!!! what am I doing wrong???

Sounds to me like the timing is off, but I will let someone who knows more about those things say for certain.  I'm not for sure if that is possible or not.

Have never been able to get one to work if there is more than one magnet in the flywheel.

I have read a couple threads about that here, but will have to look around for them.
