The Jacobsen is still not completely diagnosed, but I'm thinking the input shaft of the Eaton is supposed to spin, not have a 1" wobble to it. It has an inch side to side, up and down, all over the place play, but won't spin either direction.

Something went to poo-poo inside there! Never had one apart, not even taken one loose from the axle. If you did replace the Eaton, I imagine a good flushing of the axle would be a necessity.

Tough one Scott. I hope you can find a replacement

Eaton, so that 72" deck gets back to work.

It sounds like pure neglect. I think you need a job that keeps you home more. :poke:

It hasn't been started for about six weeks prior to this. Very dry around here.

I have (2) Eaton 11s under the bench collecting dust; I didn't pull them so IDK what they came from; I got them because I thought they were Eaton 7s.. they are bigger.    One has a tag on it that is old and unreadable I think its either new or factory rebuilt... the other is just a used one I know nothing about.. no cracks or gaping holes in the case!

I am still unsure what the exact model number is. Isn't there like 5 variations of the Eaton 11?

The Bolens steering column is back on and working as it should. New bearing at the bottom of the shaft, and some custom grinding to get it to fit. Re-assembled, had the teeth off by one. (it only turned halfway to the left) After getting it right and bolted in a second time, I realized I forgot to add the gear oil. :mad2:  And the fill plug is under the fuel tank. Take it off again! There is a whole bunch of new scratches on the dash paint job now. :rolling:
