I now have an HD-12, courtesy of Scott (sascr).  He let me buy it once he had taken off what he needed to make his HD-12 more complete, knowing I would end up putting in a diesel engine, so being 100% OE wasn't a big deal to me at all.  VERY thankful to Scott for allowing me to own it!

No engine, as I told him to keep that too, as he could use it for parts.  Quite rusty, but that can be changed in time.  For now it will be all mechanical work, with anything towards looks coming at a much later date.

All I have done so far was cut the engine mount place loose.  Someone who nothing at all about welding made a mess!  But at least that made the engine mount come out much easier!  :D

After milking we went to get some groceries, so I picked up a tube for one of the front tires that slowly goes down.  She'll get rolled around a lot for a while, so I don't want to have to keep airing up this tire.

Yes, just a start, and a slow one at that.  This time it will most definitely be slow with progress.  One, I have slowed due to my meds kicking my butt, then I have a ton of farm work to get done before winter gets here. I see some play (not bad) in the steering gearbox, and this steering box is different from most.  Everything will eventually get attended to.  Tonight I am going to try & clear some space in my old shop to get it & the diesel engine in there in case it rains tomorrow (50% chance).  My day off tomorrow & hope to do some tinkering.

This will be the engine it gets.  A Perkins/Shibaura twin diesel with 13.7hp.  I plan to run it about 3300rpm instead of winding it to it's full speed of 3600rpm.  2 reasons for that 1: engine reliability 2: it will make it close to the factory 12hp the OE gas engine put out.

Well, It didn't take you very long to get it into the shop. Glad to see you have your new therapy to keep you at ease. It won't be long before you have that diesel tucked in and purring like a kitty.

Looks like that'll be a nice project Dan, and I'm guessing

it'll be a real hard working beast when you're done with it.

What is that diesel out of?

Well, It didn't take you very long to get it into the shop.

The tractor is still waiting outside the shop right now as the old small shop is full of diesel engines.  Tomorrow I'm taking the radiator off the engine I'm putting in the HD, and putting the radiator assembly onto the engine with the redone valve.  I want to put water in it and give it a good run to see how it does.  Going to put some Bars stop leak in it too in case the re-used head gasket has a leak it can handle.

Went ahead & ordered a new radiator for the HD-12"D".  Wanted to order while I had the money from selling the 2 tractors at plow day.  If I wait, something will devour the money.

Not bad at all really.  $80 delivered to my door, complete with fan.  I'll likely use the engine driven fan, but this way I'll have options.
