Reasons I choose that muffler

1 -not sure if the Cub Cadet muffler can handle the air flow, it might be too restrictive ???

since it was made for 12hp Kohler engines

2 -the Canister muffler doesn't fit my Massey MF16s, too big, I got to use it on something it cost me $100.

Besides I can always change later.

I've used many a part for that same reason!

Today I thought I'd try to see if I could fix the mower deck gear box.

Took it apart and found 1 bearing and 1 seal in pieces.

I think the inner clip that holds the input shaft in place failed, broke ??? I can't find it anywhere.

This gear box is right-hand drive, found a left hand-drive box from a Massey MF12 mower deck, took it apart and all the parts I needed to fix the right-hand box were there. Put it back together with the clip and it works.

Cut grass with it for about 1hr and it didn't break, yet, will see how long it last. I want to cut the lawn once more before the snow comes and the Unico has being chosen for the job.

Great knowing all the internals interchange.  I believe most mower gearboxes are Peerless??

I'm sure you guys know this, but many cat 1 attachments will work with little modification, on my MF 1855 I cut the cat 1 pins off, welded on cat zero, and just adjusted my arms all the way out, I could hook one then the other, worked like a charm, so I did several other pieces that way.

Today I spent some time piecing together a 42" mower deck for this thing.

I bought a package deal parts tractor recently and it came with a 42" mower deck in need of repair.

After checking it over I found that the housing is solid and the rest of it looks good too.

1 spindle seized, I bought new bearings for it and put them in today also both deck wheels shot. I put on a couple of large push mower plastic wheels that I had, stole some parts off of the other deck I have , belt, belt tensioner spring, pins, clips, nuts, bolts and made myself a good working mower deck out of the 2.

Cut grass with it for about 2hrs today and it held together. :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

This gives me a 2nd grass cutter for this yr, the Ford for most of the lawn, wide open areas and the Unico for the rest.

I gotta say, it's good to see the old girl doing real work!  And looks like you're getting some good seat time on it, going by the "butt crack crease" in the seat!  :smilewink:
