Good to see her put to work!  I hated seeing her just sit all the time.  Not anymore!

I prefer the cub muffler as a stack looks wise, but likely better on the ears laying horizontal.

The Cub muffler looks good as a stack. Just need to point the outlet away from you. I need some of those Gravely mufflers for my Onan's.

The flail looks good back there!

On my 960, the muffler is quite large and points down.  Has a small pipe that directs the exhaust under the foot rest.  May be nice to not have the smoke in your face.

I believe you have the Donaldson muffler, most likely quieter than any of mine.

Those Nelson mufflers are hard to come by in nice shape. especially the ones for the Whites and Columbias, they have the tabs welded on for the chrome muffler guard.

Now I really want a flail! I'll add it to the list, behind another tractor for Eggman, two plows, a cart, a snow blade............. I think that covers it! Really looking good, DH1. I love the look of the Cub muffler, but there is something to be said for quiet on a worker!

Muffler

As much as I like this setup, Cub Cadet muffler horizontal.

004.JPG 005.JPG

I decided to go with the Canister muffler leaned back a bit like the Donaldson.

006.JPG 007.JPG img_0016.jpg

Going to cut off the bracket that's on the muffler and make a new one that fits the tractor to hold the muffler in place.

To each his own, but I find the canister a bit bulky looking.  I thought the horizontal looked cool.

Looks good Doug.

When did you score the flail mower?

Looks good Doug.

When did you score the flail mower?

Had it for a while now, this is the first time I used it, I was planning to convert it to electric power and run it with the GE tractors.

http://gardentractor...wer#entry261838

Shown below

The main part that I wanted from this was the motor and found that it has a 105amp circuit breaker on it.

I think it might be the same motor as the larger snow blower has. ???

The motor turns freely so hopefully it's good.

post-62-0-55226000-1358126144_thumb.jpg

Also I found that the main housing is in really good shape and that the blower shows very little wear from use, just lots of rust. I saved everything that looked good and scraped the rest, 1 less piece of junk on the driveway now.

What I want the motor for is to make an electric Flail mower. EF1

I picked up a Mott 8hp tow behind flail mower in working condition last summer, the plan is to remove the 8hp B&S gas motor and replace it with the snow blower motor so I can use it with my electric tractors.

To each his own, but I find the canister a bit bulky looking.  I thought the horizontal looked cool.

Reasons I choose that muffler

1 -not sure if the Cub Cadet muffler can handle the air flow, it might be too restrictive ???

since it was made for 12hp Kohler engines

2 -the Canister muffler doesn't fit my Massey MF16s, too big, I got to use it on something it cost me $100.

Besides I can always change later.
