Ryan and I made a new friend today and am giving him a place to stay until he gets to his new home.
He actually is moving South of here, but that's a story for another member... For now, I will let my new friend tell the story of the trip. My new friend isn't registered here yet, so I'm just letting him use my acount to tell the tale and so his future landlord can see the thread and add any particulars.
This all started the last week of August. The guy whose property I used to stay on took some pictures of me and then said he was going to someplace called eBay... Which must be in his house somewhere. Wherever it is,a week later he told me that I was going to have to move. A couple of people had offered me a place to stay, but one person was more persistent and I would be moving South to a warmer climate.
About a week after that, he told me I was going to move to PA for the winter, and then move South. Now, I'm not big on trips, as a matter of fact, I've lived in Ohio all my life... Oh well... Time for a change.
This morning, the guy who was giving me a lift (and now my new friend) and his son came over to where I was moving from. He made sure I was securely belted in and "one more up and over, for good luck" and away we went. We made a few stops to see the sights.
Not far from where I lived, was The Hidden Valley State Park in Ohio. We stopped there so my ride could stretch their legs and have a picnic.
It was a beautiful little stop and it gave us a place to make sure my belts were tight.
A little while later, we stopped at a Vietnam War Memorial that was on the way. The Helicopter was neat. He had some stories to tell, and I listened. Then I thanked him for his service.
The guys giving me a lift said something about going to see the fish next... But we made an impromptu stop at a cool looking little abandoned hotel that kinda looked like a Castle... sort of... and a quick picture at the Andover Ohio Park.
Then we headed East again. My ride pulled over and took one last pic of me in Ohio. The Lake in the background is Pymatuming Lake on the Ohio PA line
Oddly, Pymatuming is also the home of our next stop... The Famous Spillway where the Ducks walk on the Fish.
My ride explained that The Spillway is one of those odd little tourist spots... Thousands of people annually come to see this teeming mass of fish and the Ducks that sometimes walk around on them all trying to get the bread that the tourists throw to them.
Next stop was a town called Conneaut Lake. There were lots of boats tied up at the docks as we went past, but it was a little cold out for water games. We stopped at the Historical Society building for a quick pic.
The last photo stop on my little adventure today was in front on the Municipal building of my temporary home town.
It was a long journey, but one that I enjoyed and will remember for a long time.
