My father in law just got a Bolens HT23 with a bad motor. It is a Kohler K582.Just ordered all new parts to rebuild the motor and find out the next day rods are NLA. I am looking for a set of  .010 under as the crank needs turned because the oil pump went out. The part number for the rod is a 48 067 17 and I need two. I have tried all my sources and no luck so if any one has a old shop close two them and would check and see if they have a set sitting that would be great.

Check with our sponsors, Sams Bolens, and NAPA. If these don't pan out, try your local shops. There may be a set sitting on a shelf that was ordered but not picked up. That is a good tractor. Good Luck, Rick

You might be able to have std rods machined for inserts to go undersize.

? :wtf: ?  It was always my assumption that Kohler stuff was still around because they are... Is this an oddball engine or are they abandoning parts for these all together?

I think he's looking for new Rods.... Dont think I'd want to be using a used rod in a freshly rebuilt engine......

I've never bought a new rod for any Onan I've repaired.  I always buy good used ones.  In the case of needing an undersized insert machined to fit, a used one, even scuffed will work fine.  It's gonna be machined out anyway.

Nope not a oddball motor was built for 25 plus years. Kohler has been phasing these out for sometime now along with all the twin k-series engines. Want be long until no parts can be gotten for them.
