My grandfather Papa owned Al's Repair shop, he ran it out of his backyard two car garage in Centrallia, MO till he passed in 1983. He sold Bolens and stihl chain saws. This tractor was my granny's. I have a picture of me sitting on Papa's lap driving this tractor ( i was probably 3 yo) The rear attachment is a brinley dump cart that my great uncle owned and papa had beefed up the bottom bracket by welding a 3" x1/4" gusset you see, otherwise its factory brinley. the front attachment was also my great uncles, it is a pto driven dethatcher sold by bolens made by ez rake. It works awesome.  Dad (framesteer) will be showing his GK, EK, LK and I will be playing in the plow field with a G14, brinley single bottom, and maybe bring the tiller out as well.  Should be a good weekend.  If your nearby come on out.  The weather is going to be great.

Nice looking H16

Just out of curiosity, how is that Dump Attachment mounted?

Is it using the sleeve hitch?  It doesn't look anything at all like mine that uses the original mounting tabs.

That front dethatcher is looking good too!

The dump cart attaches using the rear mounting attachement pins on the axle casting.  There are open slots in the dump cart bracket that allow it to be slid onto the pins.    Then a bolt goes thru the DC bracket and the factory circle hitch tab angle thing (hitch)   I'll take some pictures tomorrow.

OK, that sounds like it mounts the same as mine. It's just that the 'bar' that holds the dump looks a lot different.

Here's what mine looks like:

Very nice setup! Looks really nice. Where was the shop located - Iowa?

OldBuzzard - I think you are seeing the extra fabrication he did to it. Your dump cart looks like mine (which has been in the garage attic for roughly 35 years!). Supposedly grandpa had it attached to a largeframe (any clue if these were interchangeable from tube to large frame tractors?). I will have to get the ladder and pull it down sometime to check. It's a 9.5 out of 10 for condition from what I can tell - but it's pretty high on the shelf.

Yeah, re-reading it, I see that I missed the "beefed it up" part :(

Here's a picture of our Bolens display at the Geneseo tractor show:

IMG_1042.JPG

From left to right:

Framesteer's Articulated Collection:

1967 GK Grounds Keeper with 72" mower

1967 EK10 Estate Keeper with restored 42" mower

1972 LK Lawn Keeper (restored) with restored 32" mower

One of BicycleMotocross' medium tube frame tractor collection:

1973 H16 tractor with 42" mower, powered dethatcher, and dump cart (all restored)

We really had a fun time at the show.  We talked to a lot of past and present Bolens owners and got a lot of questions and comments on the articulated machines when we drove them in the daily "Parade of Power"
