New toy should be showing up soon.  Bought a new Massey GC1705 last night.  I was going to try and go for the 1710 with backhoe but it was just more cost than I could justify.  I got the FEL and 60" power angle blade with it.  Pretty excited in that this gets me into the 21st century.  I have to wait till it comes to get some pics.  Now I need to get these Power Kings sold!

Thanks.  You know what they say.  Go big or go home.  I shopped around and Massey seems to offer the most for the money.  I'm not going to mow with it so I didn't need the deck.  I do want to find a 4 foot brush hog for it though.  It will run a 5 footer but I want something a little smaller for what I'm going to do.  Easier to store as well.  I may actually bring it to plow day in November.  That would be a good way to get some seat time and get to know it better.  We'll see what happens there.

Congrats on the very nice tractor. It would be neat to see how one of those would pull a plow. You will love the diesel power! Your fuel costs will be much less than running a gas engine.

The Massey 1705 is a great tractor.  There's a lot of power under the hood even compared to a similar Kubota.

Real power loaders are great, too.

There seems to be a lot of power.  What I liked about it over the larger model (and other machines) is that it achieves full power at 2600 RPM where others have to go between 3000 and 3300 RPM which will save on the engine and fuel consumption.  At least I hope it will.  Big learning curve for me though.  I predict many hours of seat time but I'm willing to make the sacrifice.

Congratulations !! My guess is that the thing you will notice most on the new tractor is the comfort and ease of use.

After 30+ years there has been a lot of advancement in comfort and ergonomics on the newer tractors.

I'm a bit jealous, but will just keep running that 1980 Ford for a few more years.

Incidently the Massey has been on my short list for a long time.

Funny thing is 1 week after I bought the Ford, the Massey Dealer called me and said he had a 1700 series in stock with deep discounts?

I don't know about deep discounts but they do have some incentives right now so that was good.  I was waiting to go over specifically to test drive a GC1710 (the one with the backhoe).  Well he called Tuesday and said he had one arriving on the truck that evening.  I went over after work on Wednesday (the next day) and I didn't see it anywhere.  He sold and delivered it by the time I got over there!  These Masseys are selling like hot cakes so there must be something good about them.  I got the last 1705 he had in stock and the truck just came in Tuesday!  He said that most of the municipalities and school districts in the area have been buying them right and left.

Most reach peak HP at higher rpm's, but most all diesels reach max torque around 2600rpm or so.  That's where the REAL power is.  Massey makes great stuff!  Congrats on a great purchase!
