Hey!  I'm looking for a rotary cutter / bush hog for a Massey 1855.  I'm not particular on the brand, just Category 0 3 pt and 2000 rpm.

Thanks!  Eric

When you say a Rotary cutter, I assume you are looking for a rear mounted 3PT Bush Hog style mower/cutter.

Yup and yup!!!  I have a finish belly mower.  I'm looking for a bush hog type rotary cutter to cut rough stuff...briars, grown up fields, small samplings, etc etc.

Thanks!  Eric

Rare as golden hen's teeth!  Danco made a 4' rotary 3pt mower.  I have an ULTRA RARE Bush Hog brand S4242 three point 48" cut mower, but until my cold dead hands rot away from it, you'll never break my grip on it!

I just saw one last night for sale on one of the forums............will post a link if I run across it again.

"I'm selling a Woods 4 ft rotary cutter in very good condition. I recently bought this cutter for use with my Deere 4200 tractor. After putting a new pto shaft on it I noticed it didn't seem to be very aggressive. After some investigation I discovered it has a 1.75:1 reduction gearbox, and so it is meant for a 2000 rpm input tractor, while my tractor is only 540 rpm pto speed. It is also set up as a Cat 0 attachment, and so I made an adapter to allow it to mount on a Cat 1 setup. I used it for 8 hours to cut tall weeds in a field, and there are no oil leaks. I found the cutter worked okay at its reduced tip speed for brush, but is not fast enough to do a good job in grass. I think that a tractor with a 900 rpm pto (such as some Kubotas) could power it nicely. Someone with a garden tractor and a 2000 rpm pto would be in great shape, but would need to adapt the pto to their spline shaft. I'm asking $400 for it. Please email with any questions! Thanks, Brent"

He is in ILLINOIS

Glad you got it. If I would've had the extra $$$, I would've jumped on it.

Absolutely! It has Cat 1 pins welded on, so those will have to be changed to Cat 0.  I'll also have to come up with a PTO shaft, as a 540 rpm shaft comes with it.

Well, I got it home!  I know that 1186 miles in a Ford Festiva pulling a bushhog on a trailer is about enough for one day :)

I spent 2 saturdays with Dad going through things, flushing the gear box, welding in new bushings, etc.  It works beautifully!!!
