Update!
I pulled the starter cover off. And, the coil has melted! Looks like I'm in the market for a new coil!

Is it a 2 legged coil or a 3 leg? If its 2 legged, you can use the modern electronic ignition on it and eliminate the points under the flywheel.

Could be ether 6B or 8B. The only way I see to tell the difference is 6B has 2.00" bore and 8B has 2.25" bore. Both have 2.00" stroke. When I review the parts list, they share many parts.

Your tractor appears to be a Simplicity Model B with a replacement engine.

You can download the owner's manual and parts list here:

It's a three leg coil. I saw somewhere that I could replace the flywheel with a modern one and use a new coil? Would most any verticle shaft flywheel do?

Thanks!

If you want to replace that coil, try these folks.

I bought one for a Briggs 143402.
