I guess you should dig out your verniers and mics and take a few measurements and let the rest of us know what you have come up with.

Put modeling clay on top of the valves and then torque the head back on. Rotate the engine through a few times and then remove the head and measure how much the distance is between the head and valves.
The rest of what you do will depend on what class your pulling in. I don't think this engine should ever run above 4000 rpm.

I would stick with a kohler for performance if your looking for that and parts availability
