Decided to amuse myself and stopped at the local Farm & Fleet store, last night, to see if they had some ignition points I needed. As I was already pretty sure of... they said they would have to be ordered. I need the parts, like yesterday, so I didn't place an order.  Did pick up a sparkplug, (B&S brand) and then promptly put it back when I saw the price... $6.99 plus tax!! I haven't bought a small engine plug for a few years, but I'm thinking.... really, you've got  to be nuts!!

Went to their automotive section and bought the same plug for less than $2.00!! (Champion brand)

Nice to see you back Bill.

It is nuts some of the prices places are getting. Most end up paying because they don't think of where else they could get the items.

we tend to go to the quickest route ,, and don't do our homework and the stores know it.

Then there's the other side of the story, where you find a cheaper price, but then you have to wonder if it's a cheap made part that isn't going to last.

I have 2 hardware stores close by about mile apart. It is surprising how much difference there is between the stores on some items. Sometimes it is best shop at one, next time it is better at the other.

There are plenty of folks who think they have to buy the OE brand. I'm sure Briggs doesn't make their own plugs. And I'm sure Kohler doesn't make their own gaskets and rings.

I might be wrong, but I think I remember being told that Briggs plugs are made by Autolite.

It's a buyer beware world anymore. Regardless of who's name is on it doesn't mean that had much to do with it.

When I worked on my ariens.

Hydraulic hoses just north of 200 bucks for 4 hoses. Hydraulic shop 40 dollars.

Tie rod ends and tie rods. Over 150 dollsrs from dealer. Mcmastercarr universal stuff 25 dollars

Shopping around and using your head saves a ton of money
