Daniel, boy that one sounds as good ad the others. Very nice, I think it's a good as the others.

Yes it does, and I do think it's as good as the others.  Just got through running it another whole hour while I worked on something else, and she just runs along as happy as can be.  At full temps at idle, 45psi oil pressure, 60psi full throttle.  I need to use my photo tach to set the speeds.   It's idling about right, but I want to set the full speed to about 3350rpm.

Another 45 minute run, and she's purring!

Daniel, where do you get these? I love the smell and sound of diesels, and was really impressed by your JBI.

These were just on Craigslist 30 miles east of Evansville, IN.  I may never come across such a haul ever again.

I hear that! What I really meant to ask was, what kinds of equipment are these usually in? I have noticed you can often buy complete equipment cheaper than the engine alone!

The only thing I've seen them in is APU's. And there is a bunch of them out there. I'm not aware of them being used in anything else in this country.

Forgive my ignorance, does this mean Auxiliary Power Unit? I assume that would be on a semi tractor? Thanks!

Yes, that's what it stands for.  They ran cab AC/heat/ and 120V AC power.

You might watch for the ones called Tri-Pacs. They are also an APU and run Yanmar engines of the same horse power. I have two of these. One in a garden tractor and the other is going into a golf cart. Mowed all summer with the one and really like it.

I just got a Ford 1600 with one of these engines in it.  It was free and worth every penny.  I'm in the process of getting it running as it has sat outside for a couple of years.  I took off the valve cover and the inside looks pretty clean so I'll try to get it started as soon as I get the starter back.  It wouldn't turn the engine over so I am replacing it with a gear reduction unit.  I am new to this but with retirement coming up soon I'll have nothing but time to put into it.  Would appreciate any advice I can get on this restoration.  Aloha.

Glad to see this topic. I am working on a deal for two of these as partial payment for a job I am doing. Now to get them running and figure out what to put them in.

I finished the job a day early and the customer was so happy they gave me the Rigmaster APU plus my full pay. I was not expecting that but free is good. Going to pick it up after lunch tomorrow then haul it home to pull the engine and radiator out. Still have not decided what I am going to put it in but something will find me,it always does.
