HH 120 rebuild

I finally got the engine tore down and it is a bad rod bearing. But there is no bearing so now what? Can the crank journal be machined down and get an oversized rod or do I need and whole new crank?

I've looked for a long time and these guys have the most parts available and the prices are not bad, they do not ship to Canada.

PS, you must buy a new connecting rod as they have the bearing as part of the rod and can not be serviced. Your best bet is a .10 oversized rod and have the crank turned to match. You may want to make sure that the .10 will be enough on the crank first! If you are going to do the crank, I would seriously look at having the block bored and running the .10 piston and new rings. I mean, if you are into the crank already... it's a short, but VERY smart step to just finish off the bottom end.

Looking at that side revealed something kind of interesting... The piston and rod from the HH100 motor I have in my shop is a direct swap assy into the OH140 that is in my hydrostatic, but not the HH120 in the 12G. Good to know!

The rods are the same for HH100, HH120, OH140, OH15o, OH160, all the same part.

HH100 and OH140 are the same bore and stroke, but different from HH120, OH150, OH160.
HH120, OH150+OH160 are the same bore and stroke, larger than the 100s, 140s.
Basically 2 different engine displacements covers all these engines.
