I need help from the 2 wheel experts. A friend of mine called me out behind his shed and showed me what he was told was a bearcat walk behind. It has an Ellinwood Industries engine on it. He tells me he has not had any luck finding information on it. So I told him I will ask the experts, so help me out if you can.

      Thanks Don

I couldn't find anything. Is it a brand or a model? Pictures may help. You will find many tractors were sold under several names. Good Luck, Rick

Thanks Rick,

My friend was told that the same company also made a riding tractor called a tigercat so i`m thinking this must be a model. I did find a video on line when I searched ellinwood industries but it was just the engine. In the video the guy talks about it being 1940`s

      Thanks Don

There is a thread on these tractors here: http://gardentractor...cat#entry313249

There is a thread on the Ellinwood engine here  http://www.smokstak....ad.php?t=123882

The engine is rarer than the tractors. Most of the tractors were powered by Lauson or Briggs engines. Got any pictures of the tractor? The Tiger Cat wasn't ever a rider. They made all walk behinds as far as I know.

I recently found and am in the process of rebuilding a Ellinwood Lauson Bearcat walk behind. The I.D. sticker was there and a positive because it was 100% original, probably sitting under a tree for 20 years where it had stopped. It came with disc and claw attachments and even a sit down dump bed trailer from another maker. It has a 'X' support between the hande bars and rubber tires. The motor tag is Lauson TLC349   7-21115. From what I understand, the 7 is the year made as the tractor frame is also stamped with 47.  1947 . I only have one picture of it as it was, got too eager to make it work and started tearing it down right away and kept going till I found the motor bearings were bad. Now it's in boxes. So far I've got most parts I need, cleaned 99% of it and started painting the parts. This is my 1st. rebuild , I always wanted to own a tractor but live in a tractor void area, this is about as big as I have room for. Yuk yuk. It came from a small fruit tree orchard in this area surrounded by businesses, the owner just passed and I couldn't let it be scrapped. Google earth 91724 and you'll see what I mean. I now know I should have been more careful and taken more pictures as to how the throttle/ governor linkages were run. Ooops. I will try to post any pictures I have and any other info. would be appreciated. Thanks y'all.

Welcome to the forum, Rust Addict. Are you going to see about getting these decals reproduced?

Actually I have a friend that is going to try and make printed vinyl stickers for me. It's like the stuff advertisers put on trailer sides, doors etc. I may also have him make me a couple t-shirts with it on them. If I do I will surely have him make several and make them available if people are interested.  I have some decent pictures of the decal and some sources to fine tune it to get a good print from it. This is my first tractor complete rebuild, the only other engine I have is a Cushman hit and miss which just needed repairs and needs fine tuning.

Unfortunately I only got one picture of the Bearcat tractor before I disassembled it, I am trying to get it onto my computer and will post it as soon as I can.
