Its a 1972 110 with a bad kohler 8hp engine in it.  The owner said that the piston wont move in the engine and it still turns over.  The spark plug was also ejected at the time of the death.  Can i swap out a 5hp honda engine in it until i get the kohler rebuilt?

This mower just had the deck refinished 2 years ago.  its in really good shape.

this is my second tractor purchase this summer....

Just to clarify - you are talking about a 1972 110, right?  The 111 is a later machine with a vertical shaft engine in it.

I am sure you could do a China honda "Chonda" swap.  I have seen them on other forums in both the '68-'74 110/112 (easier on the later ones IIRC) and the 200 series machines.  Do you intend to use attachments?  The clutch can be a challenge in this swap.

Have you considered finding a good k181 to swap in?

And just to be obnoxious...

i only plan on using the mower deck.  I will see if i can find the info on the swap.  What make the clutch so difficult?

The cylinders in my machines don't move either and it's never caused a problem.

The wife? She'll always find something to be mad about. It might as well be something good for you.

My other half hates it when i drag old stuff home, too. Although she usually comes around when she realizes how much better and cheaper it is than the new junk!

At two mowers you should be safe. I have stashed a few here and there - now if I only could remember where I put that one with the broken axle. I think it is next to the Cub with the bad tranny.
