I had the Tecumseh starter rebuilt at my local shop, 50.00 and a week later the Bendix goes bad and they want another 60 to repair that, hell know, I just bought another new starter. The guy says he knew the Bendix was going, but I didn't ask him about that. I wouldn't have spent the 50 on rebuilding a starter with a bad Bendix, those parts cost me around 40.00 as well . Anyway its on a starts and runs well on the Bolens H16, that is now listed on the TOTM list. Bolens made one heck of a tractor, I dont know if any thing else compares

You've got one of the best medium frames. Now try a large frame. Good Luck, Rick

I have 2 of the 1250s and love them. I bought an HT23 but it doesn't run yet. I prefer the Wisconsin engines. Good Luck, Rick

That's a shame about the starter.  Unfortunately for all the reputation of service guys, there are always the jerks who decide to make more on something by an option that isn't fair to the customer!

To be honest I think the guy was just lazy, he didn't even seem real interested in doing the extra repair. This is how I got  good at repairing mowers, if any idiot was going to work on my mower,, by gosh it was going to be me.
