Today I pulled in the jd 4020 to the workshop formally known as the 430 . I am sanding and filling in the side channels and will build emblems that extend outward on both side on the front half of each side like the real ones do. I been wanting to do this for quite a while .

I got the hood wet sanded this morning and then I sprayed three good coats of John Deere Green paint on it. Tonight I set the hood on and put one screw to hold the first emblem to see how it is going to look. In three days I will sand the paint and buff out the hood and then it will look a little more like the real 4020 hood.

Very nice Don, I like that much better

Now that you are done with this one, you are probably getting sick of it, when should I stop by to pick it up :D

I guess my t-shirt should have been a jd , ha,ha. Actually I really like all kinds and colors of big tractors and garden tractors .

It has been a year and a half since i bought this jd 430 to convert into a mini 4020. My long time dream has finally come true. I not only made the 4020 , I also bought 9 more garden tractors and converted several of them. My most exciting garden tractor was the very last one as I got to build the mini jd 9630 with duels front and rear and an articulating frame and 4x4 . With a year and a half off from toy building I have brought my two big steel work tables back into the workshop a few days ago. Looks like I will keep one end of the shop for one tractor to work on but the rest of the little shop will be going back to toy building mode. I will still putter on the garden tractors but shift back to toys for a while. I still have a list of garden tractor related projects in the future. I almost called on three more garden tractors in the last week , ha,ha. So if you don't here from me for a while now just want to say thanks again for all the positive comments. Be sure to stop by my webpage once or twice a month to check on my latest projects. Have a fun and safe Holiday Weekend .

4020 looks perfect now Don!  Your work never ceases to amaze me.  From someone that has both versions of the 747 in all three sizes I like the shirt.  LOL!!!

I love that shirt because it reminds me of building the two versions of the 747 big buds myself and the Williams brothers in their matching shirts .

After waiting several days today I sanded the new paint and buffed it out. It shines very good !!!  Thought some of you might wonder if the new paint job would look dull or shine. I like shiny tractors :bigrofl:

Looks like you can really see yourself in it. You get the right angle with that camera and you could have TWO Mr Campbell's in a picture at once.

The rebuild and repaint turned out nice.
