John Deere 140 H3. Rear brake drums. New front tires, head gasket, all new hydraulic couplings and one new hose, new pto switch, new battery, rewired, the plow was redone and is now a 48" plow instead of 42", high back used JD seat, new paint- not a pro job, but very good. My question to the group is, what is this worth? I am going to sell it. Thanks, Tom.2013 179.jpg 2013 180.jpg

I gave $850 for the 140 H3  I had.  It came with a model 46 mower deck and a 54 inch 4-way snow/dozer blade.  It had the right seat, headlights, the right grill, new paint job (rattle can )and a fresh rebuilt motor.  I got a really good deal on it.  The tractor and mower deck by itself was worth $750.

I would say between $750 and $1000 but that is my opinion.

$300-400 for the 4-way blade

$400-500 for the tractor depending on the year with the later machines making better workers.

Strikes against it include:

- seat

- missing headlights

- missing original grill

Did you replace the front spindles? They appear different than what came on my '71 120.

The year of your tractor appears to be in the 1973-1974 range? This would put the serial number above the 46,000 mark, am I right? Like said above, without the headlights, the grille, and at least the original seat pan, I'd start your pricing around $800.00. If you could find the items that are missing, and could be added, then you could possibly bump your asking price up to $1,000.00. The reason for not going higher, is due to the blade being modified, and still not knowing if there is a mower deck included.

The tractor is a 1973, and has no deck with it. I would like to thank you guys, now I have an idea what to ask.

Traded for a 210, 216, 2 JD mower decks, 2 front mounted JD snow blowers, a like new JD hood and side grill supports for the 200 series tractors, and a lot of extra parts. Both tractors run nice, Deck on the 216 needs bearings and new drive belt. And the seat needs to go back to fit my belly. Thanks to everyone who helped set the price on the 140.

Good trade!   Both of those tractors are real work horses!
