Joe , I've got a buddy that swears on Easy Off oven cleaner to remove any oil or grease build up, I haven't tried it yet but it might be a cheap way to clean it up.  The jake's are even harder to find than the ford's here..I'd love to have one to add to my newly started collection.  Sounds like you'll have it up to par really soon I would love to see some more pic's of it

This tractor has the quietest hydro of all my tractors! If it weren't for the engine running I think this one would be quieter than an electric!

I agree the 1450 jake i sent to ME was a lot quieter than my ford 145

why are they quieter?  Did Jake put something other than a Eaton hydro in them?

I'd like to know that answer! My Ford whines pretty good. But the FF (with the same hydro) is much quieter. Both have the same oil in them!

Relief valve is looser than normal is one possibility, and, or the rotor ring is loose and the buttons are not keeping it centered and smooth.
They are so simple internally its not funny!! Yet they are insainely effective when working properly.
They generate less heat and are WAY quieter than the Sundstrands of the same generation.
If it is noisy something ia not quite right, wont nessisarily hurt it, but it isnt 100% either.
