Hello everyone! I posted a topic earlier today but I thought I'd give a little info on my current machine.  I picked up a 78 LGT165 about 5 years ago from a guy who used it to pull cars around his junkyard.  The motor started smoking so he put it on CL.  I picked it up for $400 including a nice 50" deck. other than the motor, it was in pretty nice shape. Pulled the head to check the rings and the cylinder was scored pretty bad, so I found a Kohler M16 and swapped it out. Since then I have done quite a bit of work to it. Got the head and tail lights working, put in a new PTO switch and wiring, installed an inline hydro filter, replaced the hydro pump output shaft bearing and seal, modified a Craftsman dozer blade for the front and built a sleve hitch for the rear. I have a full set of new decals and a new oem blue seat cover for it when I decide to repaint. It's still in real good shape so I am still waiting. All in all I have about $700 total into it.

I use it regularly to mow and move snow.  I get a lot of people who see it as they drive by ask me where I got it - Ford garden tractors are not very common around here.

All this to say, if anyone is thinking of doing any of this to their tractor I'd be glad to help.  I'm no expert by any means but everything I've done to the tractor still works great. I'm looking forward to reading about everyone else's rigs here on the forum!

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like a nice solid tractor. Get some pics for us, help on them is at the bottom of my signature. We do like pics.

There's are Ford folk on here who would be willing to help with issues when needed.

I would like to see and hear about what you did to add the filter. Sounds like a worth-while job.
