I can't bring myself to spend $25 on a red knob for the hydro lever on my JD400. Anyone have one they want to get rid of CHEAP?

Have you tried to find one from a second source. I think it's a standard 3/8" thread and about 1-1/2" diameter. The original parts were made of a really hard material. The one on my 314 will not come off. The insert just turns. On the 317 I think it was replaced and the orange plastic replacement part has about half the orange paint worn off. If you could find a black one that would fit you could always paint it orange. You might try McMaster Carr or a local supplier of specialty hardware.

That sounds like a plan!

Thanks Robert!! I figured someone would have an extra one around. The 400 came with an old school Hurst handle on it...
