Hi Guys,

I'm brand new to the GT forum after just stumbling onto it recently. I live in SE Wisconsin and have always been into antique farm tractors and more recently, garden tractors.  I've always liked Economy tractors; being manufactured here locally, but unless I've been looking in the wrong places, the "old" Economy's are hard to find around here.

About a month ago, I stumbled onto a local Craigslist add, for this 1952 Economy that's been in the seller's family since new. It is in original condition and included quite a few attachments that I haven't seen. It hadn't been run in years, but was kept inside...so I decided to bring it home and start learning. It didn't take long and I got it running really well; then had a little clutch issue to fix, and now it's a very reliable and fun little tractor....and I got hooked pretty quickly!

Two weeks ago, my wife was working, so I took my 2yr old daughter, Lydia to a local show and saw on the bullitan board, a For Sale sign for an early 1951 Economy with a sickle mower which looked intriguing. (Lydia made me call on it..:) We found that it was also very local and decided that the '52 needed a friend and brought it home. This one was gone through mechanically and has brand new tires on it. The sickle mower and older style front end really drew me too it and Lydia and I have been taking rides around the yard now all week.

Anyway, I look forward to learning a lot on the forum and sharing the little that I've learned along the way. Thanks!

Hi,

Welcome to the insanity!

I started with a "free" 1967 Power King, four years ago and now have 8 or so(it's a moving traget).

About half of the group is in operable condition. My oldest is a 1952 Country Squire

and the newest is a 1981 2418 dual trans.

Chuck

Good Eyes!! That's our 445 grass cutting machine. While we collect Red tractors (and now orange garden tractors), the green ones do the real work around our place. :)

Thanks everyone, for the warm welcomes!

You have a couple very nice looking early Economy tractors, great finds and look to be in pretty fair shape, covered storage makes a huge difference!!  Some nice goodies to go with them too.  Welcome to the forum and to the family of Economy/PK owners.

Welcome to GTT:wave:   I know little to nothing about Economy/PK/Jim Dandy, but I think you have some gooduns.  That one with the sickle was a good buy, as sickle mowers sure can be handy.

Oldiron, Welcome. I had both of those tractors on my want list. They were both on CL for a while and I waited to long.

There will be a tractor show in Sussex Aug 24-25 and a in Richfield 21-22. Bring them out, we would enjoy seeing them.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM! Nice find! I don't know much about them, but any thing that old in that good of condition is always nice to add to or start a collection. Look forward to having you on the site.

Hi

Welcome to GTT.

Nice set of tractors you have there.

Just looking at Lydia, I can see that you must have a hard time, saying

yes to her every wish. :D

Take advantage of that while you can. Let Lydia grow the tractor

collection, before she starts talking to Mom. :D  :D

Welcome to the site. I like that sickle mower. I could use that on my 71. Great pics too.
