My late father, Ivan Smith, was born and raised on a farm near Laurel, Nebraska. I was born in Laurel and moved to Illinois when I was three. Many of my childhood memories were of visiting family there.
This year the Smith Farm was recognized by the Nebraska Farm Bureau as a Pioneer Farm. To receive this, the farm must be in the same family for 100 years. It is currently owned and farmed by my cousin Marta and her husband.

It's nice that that milestone has been recognized. It must be less common then it used to be for a farm to reach that 100 year mark.

That's a great accomplishment, and thanks for sharing that Rich. I need to look up when Gramps bought this farm. I know it was around 1920 at least, so we're around 93 years or more.
