Found this neat link that allows you to type in your engine's serial # and it gives you the year and month of when the engine was manufactured!

VERY USEFUL!
With Bush Hog dumping all the records of the GT production runs, the engines are the only way to date most of them. I could never find engine number DOM that easily. This site is simply awesome! This site just confirmed my D4-10 tractor IS as I thought, a 1967 model!

I put in the engine serial number from the posting on the e-bay listing for the Bolens 900 that I just bought and it shows a production date of January 1964. Thanks again Brian for such a useful post.I tested it by typing in the serial # for the 66' Bolens 1050 and it came back saying January of 1965. Now I cant wait to go in the garage and write down all the serial #'s of my engines and see what comes up
