Ran across this.  Kind of confirms to me there was a link between race cars and GTs.attachicon.gifrace car tractor.jpg

There were actually 3 Indy Car models offered with Wheel Horse GT's included. I have only one of the 3.

indy wh3.jpeg I have this one

These other 2 are hard to find.

I remember the Lotus STP and Rislone Special but not the Indy Turbine car.  Loved (and still love) plastic models.

This is a really interesting thread with Garden Tractors, racing and model cars all mixed together! I don't have much experience with the GT history and knowledge, but I built a model or 2 in my day, and used it for a stepping stone to get to real racecars! Not Indy mind you but I still spent most my life around racing in a local capacity, and worked for a local team that got to run 4 Winston Cup races in 1974 and 1975. I don't remember ever seeing those kits with the GT's--cool for sure!

Thanks for this thread and all of the interesting commentary!

Here's the Indy - Panzer pic I mentioned.  This would have pre-dated the Wheel Horse use by several years.  The picture is labeled as Pat O'Connor and he died in the '58 500.  From other images I found on the net this appears to be his '58 car and I think it's actually him on the Panzer.

OK Guys, I didn't realized (Thanks Canawler) that this thread was in the MF forum. I believe that it needs to be in the general GT forum, so I moved it.

Thanks, I'm just used to hanging around with the Snapper/MF guys and one GT I saw in the movie was a MF.  I've learned a lot from all you guys that have contributed.

Don't misunderstand.  There's no problem with this being in the MF sub-forum, I just thought it turned into a topic that would be of interest in the general forum so more people would see it.
