Went looking around town today while waiting for the kids to finish their dentist appointments and came across an Ariens GT18 in pretty rough shape. Owner said it ran fine but had issues with the bearing/bushing in the deck PTO drive and something wrong with the rear PTO. Kohler m18 engine, pwr steering, and 3 point make me think the $100 he's asking might not be out of line. This one will for sure need a different place to stay if I pull the trigger.

The 3pt is worth more then he's asking, you don't own it yet?

$100 isn't a bad investment.  You could probably sell off a few parts and make that in a day.

If that is one with the Dana rear end check the frame to axle mounts as they tend to crack there. It's the same rear end that JD used in the 300's but JD did a better job of welding the axles to the frame and didn't have this issue. It's certainly worth 100 if the drivetrain is working.

So how am I going to now where to put it out here without some pics of what it looks like. Is it going to get along with the other tractors I've got out here?

Good engine, 3 point, and power steering are each worth at least $100 on their own! Go get it!

Didn't want to seem too anxious with picture taking and such.  It's actually painted a shade of drab green for some reason.  Might camouflage itself with all those Power-Hos.

Sounds like the old Sperry New Holland colors. Sounds like a great deal.

I chatted with the owner again today and sounds like we'll be loading her up in a couple of weeks.  He's going to try to get it going so we can load it under its own power.  Found out what's wrong with the rear PTO.  It's gone :)  Seems clutch went bad and they just removed the rest of it.  Still looking forward to a 3 point, pwr steering, and that Magnum though.

That would be nice if he can get it going. That way if I need to "move" it shouldn't be to hard. You don't have a cat0 blade to store out here too would you?  The driveway could use a little grading  :D

I'll check in with the fab department in the big red brick building here in town.  Could be a nice project for someone.
