Has anyone had any experience with these, 4 cyl renault , yes i know its a beast of a machine 1200+ lbs, but is this going to bring me joy or grief, ok i will be joy all the way home if i buy it but then what, it does not run but looks pretty good the guy is only 2hr from me , has a decent 60" deck he has reduced his asking price to $900 i am thinking $700 might be about right?

It's a rare machine & certainly worth even the $900 if it's all there, or even close to all there.  As to parts for the engine, I have no idea.  The rest of the parts as far as driveline should be easy enough to source.

Never had one, but from what I understand parts can be an issue.

Parts are VERY hard to come across for D250's as they were made in Belgium. Usually, you want to get a second parts tractor so you have parts for your good tractor. It is worth the $700-$900.

There is a motorhome repair dealer online that specializes in Winnebago Lesharos. It was powered by a small Renault 4 cylinder diesel. They used to claim to have a full line of engine parts. Check with them about parts for the Wheelhorse Renault diesel. Good Luck, Rick

MTD owns Gutbrud the company that made the D 250's.  They are a German tractor, with parts sourced from Italy,Belgium and Germany.  If it's whole it's worth the money. Parts are not easy to find in the US but easily found in Europe as they were a very popular brand there
