Wow huge transformation.

My decals on the 800 are WAY to far gone to try to save.Want to swap hoods? lol

I wish someone made the Red backed hood decal set.I'm going to try to paint the red area on mine and use the newer decal set.They just don't look the same without the red.

Still working the buggs out on my 800 BUT I got her running and moving and it's charging the battery now.My hood needs some loving.There is only 3 round hood Bolens around here that I know of and 1 is alot worse than mine and the other is basicly a parts tractor that the owner thinks is made of Gold Pressed Latinum.Yes I watch alot of Star Trek :rocker2:

Don't say I told ya so., but when in doubt regarding Bolens stuff; there is a DR. in residency that may have leads on the decals in question.

In your position I'd likely send a PM inquiry...As for the rest of the hood., as long as there are no chunks missing, super deep gouges and such, what worked for me was a paint removal pad (about $5, sold for drill or grinder) kinda hard brillo lookin thingy, like this;

and go SLOW, EASY & EVEN with the pressure. There are lots of methods to get to the bare metal, but this worked for me. gloves, eye protection and dusk mask please.

Good Luck, lookin forward to the progress report(s)

I do have a NOS set of these Hood Decals that I will see about reproducing when I get time.

To do it properly its going to be alot of work.... been wanting to do this for over a year but other things get in the way.

Maybe this winter once things settle down.
