Can you post a pic and let us see if it is different than the K-series Carbs?

Ebay has aftermarket Kohler carbs for 60.99 delivered, the air cleaner assembly may also be found there as well

there was a member here from WI that had been advertising brand new OEM carbs for that engine for (if I remember right) $75.

whats wrong with your carb? sloppy throttle shafts can be fixed. most 12HP K  and Magnum  carbs interchange, slight differences though in the throttle shaft where the gov link connects over the years and varied applications for these ehgines

That would be me!! Trust me the aftermarket carbs are cheap for a reason. Give me a part number and I'll see what I have.

yup I have a newer 6HP Tecumseh whose throttle shaft is "just" starting to allow the engine to "hunt" (tec never sold throttle shaft regush kits like Kohler)  and I'm debating if it's "bad enough yet" to replace the carb, I am not interested in the aftermarket carb even for a Tecumseh... I sure would not on a Kohler.

Back in the day you could buy replacement carbs via Tillotson or Walbro or Carter instead of teh engine manufacturer  in this case though you were still gettin the exact same carb  that the engine came with, not these days

and rrmeidl I havent forgotten about you on that 8HP Kohler crank either... just have not had a chance to get around to that engine in a while

It's Rick and you said a mouthful. I looked up the carb for Matt's spec and it a 47-853-20 and I just so happen to have one. Still got a couple of cranks for the K181 too.
