So now that we have the colors for 1957-1960 figured out I think its time to tackle the earlier years (1948-1956)

The paint used this time period was non metallic and used a lighter green and more of an orange color for the Yellow

Something interesting I found while looking at a service bulletin dated 56' was that Bolens actually referred to their what we thought to be "yellow" paint as Orange!!

I have yet to determine what year this color green actually started but i have been able to trace it back to 1948.

I do have a few NOS parts to work with but would like people who may have something else in NOS or a good sample of original paint from a machine during these years to please post pictures here.

I'm especially interested in any Ridemaster samples as I have seen a ton of people paint them a dark green or use Oliver green but something tells me that is not right.

Here's a couple samples I have of an all original 1955 Super Versa-Matic.

Note the difference between the newer NOS metallic green Disc I have attached compared to the non metallic lighter Green.

It would be nice to get it figured out. From what I've seen the green from 48 - 50 is more of a darker drab green. The 12As in 48 looks to be the same as the 50 12BB chassis I have. The 12B you have looks to be the same color scheme as my 48 and 50.

Some of the parts I have for my Versa are that lighter green (like you took lime green and JD green and mixed them together). The hood is a way different green under the chome strips than the rest of the hood. I'll have to post a pic of it later.

Heres a couple of pics with what I've came up with. If you would like I could mail you a couple of spray outs.

Thanks for the pics Guys.

If anyone has more feel free to post. Would like to get a few different ones together to study the fading of the paint.

The code I came up with is PPG 920570. Its called Sherwin Williams Equipment Green. Did a camera shot of my Power Ho and this is what it came up with.

Here's a few pics of the tank against a Clinton off a 12BA-02. Fresh paint to old paint it looks ok, but I'm running with it unless someone comes up with a better match.

I'd just wait a little longer kingscarpion. With your Ridemaster being the first one, having the closest to orginal color would crucial. JMO  We need a few more choices of green to make a good decision.

I think this is an entirely different color than what is used on my 55' Versa-Matic

I have to look at my power ho & attachments again to see if I can find a place where the paint has not faded.

Where did you get the samples from?

In most areas the paint fades and you can not get an accurate match.....
